What is SkillsUSA?

SkillsUSA is an international nonprofit student organization that serves students enrolled in career and technical education training programs at our nation's public high schools, two and four year colleges, and career and technical centers. SkillsUSA's mission is to help its members become world class workers and responsible American citizens.

SkillsUSA complements technical skills training with instruction in the employability skills that make a well rounded worker and citizen. Founded in 1965 as VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America), SkillsUSA has developed nearly 8 million workers through active partnerships between employers and educators.

SkillsUSA's annual membership averages more than one-quarter million students and teachers in Trade, Industrial, and Technical Occupational Programs. Tennessee SkillsUSA proudly announces a 2008 membership of over 10,000.This membership is from both secondary and post-secondary schools across the state.
